Claim your old dormant Blogger blog

Have you created a blogger blog but have never logged in since 2007? Are the contents important to you? If they are, then you should consider logging in now and migrate from the old blogger system to the new one (well not so new since they upgraded the system in 2007.) If the contents are not that important, you just need to sit down, relax and kiss your old dormant blog goodbye.

According to Brett Wiltshire, Product Operations of Blogger, for a number of technical and operational reasons, they’ve decided to finally end their support for migrating legacy accounts and blogs after June 25th, 2011. But worry not, it only applies to a tiny fraction of users who haven’t logged in to Blogger since 2007. If you’ve logged in to Blogger at least one time since 2007, you won’t be affected at all.

So how do you update your old system to the new one?blogger blog

  1. Head over to the Legacy migration page and update your account.
  2. Confirm your old login, use your Blogger username and password. They’ll take all the blogs under this account and switch them to your Google Account.
  3. Next, choose a Google Account. After you sign in, they’ll have you choose which Google Account you’ll use to sign in with from now on. You can create a new Google Account or link to your existing one. If you prefer to stick with the Yahoo sign-in, there is no reason not to. Google would not delete non-Gmail accounts without notification but they encourage you to use any Google Account login (i.e. (youtube, orkut, picasa or other Google products).
That’s it, Hello old blog!
