Moleskine Challenge: Flower ornaments
Flower ornaments | mixed media on moleskine
62 pages left! Used dark umber colored pencil for the background and pigment ink for the drawing. I wanted to use this design for my curtains but have to think about it again as I’ve had it with photo emulsion silkscreen. I just can’t get it right and the last time I did, I’ve wasted 3 screens! Call me an old school but I think it was a whole lot easier back then (SPM 1986) using just varnish to create a stencil out of the screen. It was a very very hard work but I enjoyed the process.
Oh well, might just buy curtain fabrics from IKEA.

i love this design, emila! How do you manage to keep the white space so white? If i were to color this, I would hv ter-colored the white space. 🙂
Jean Chia
hehe, yeah, i think it would be easier to just buy frm IKEA. And i am sure it would be cheaper too! :))
T.H
jean your dinner so late?
T.H
cheap at ikea? I only like the lights in ikea.
Nessa
I’m loving the Dragonflies 😀 Your drawing is full of character, learned so much from your style la.
The prob with mine, I tend to make many mistakes, I redo many times, and in the end it doesn’t turn out the way I want it to be 🙁
milkberry
Wow so pretty!!

Afternoon Emila, sorry I couldn’t come back here last night, so sleepy and tired la! 😉
I love this drawing, reminds me of a magical garden and I can almost see a pixie peeking out from behind the flowers! Would love to see this in a nice shade of green! 😀
Mariuca
Hah? Only the lights? I love all the small items u can find in IKEA. Also love their furniture, but a bit pricey. My office chair is from IKEA, and most of my office furniture actually! Some more IKEA is so near my house, how not to be an IKEA fan like that? He he! 😉

Thanks Nessa! My 2 cents tip hehe: you should make a draft first and determine the subjects.

mangosteenskin
i remember when we were in college, my friend like to draw cicak or dinosour but in the form of rangka2 je. his drawing was so complicated, till today i still wonder how he could memorize susunan tulang2 tu, he can even draw the cicak or dinosour in various position.
one day he uses his cicak to design our club t-shirt. yes, the shop used silk screen. asri is right, we can just send our design to any t-shirt printing shop. below our office is a t-shirt printing workshop, i saw them using silk screen on other item too, eg umbrella.
by the way…ornaments ni nampak mcm kain batik emak saya!
emila
I am actually looking for silkscreen making, Manggis. I wanted to do the printing myself.

Don’t you dare buy curtains from IKEA! You’re waaaaay too talented. Personally I think you should sell this design TO Ikea 😉
Anita
T.H
sell design to ikea that’s good idea, emila you should give a try 🙂
T.H
yeah agree with marvic a bit pricey, thats why we ended up looking than buying.
dmystify
Thats right, the fun is in the printing.
dmystify
Yes I agree, why buy from ikea when you are able to print yourself with designs which are equally or better than ikea.
emila
Hehe thanks Anita xxx! I’m flattered!
