New Lil’ Guardians will say Hello soon!

It’s not easy to ‘sew’ 26 clothings for them and finally they will make their appearances hopefully next week in my new children’s book. Your children will get to know more flowers’ names and as a bonus, there will be a little guide on how to draw a lil’ guardian at the back.

I’ll give a buzz when I have the fresh copies. Here’s the working cover. The printed one might be with a different title.

    WiP: Princess book

I am now in the process of adding background to all eight princesses and making the book layout. Here is a screen-capture of what I am currently doing now. I am way behind my deadline and hope to finish this by tonight so that I can carry on with preparing merchandise items to bring to Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF). This book will also follow me to ADIBF.

    WiP: Princesses book

Sorry that I had to take out previous post about Princess Gunung Ledang. Hate it. Here’s my version of Princess Walinong Sari of Pahang.

The background and a bit of the clothing detailing will be done in vector. Am running out of time.

Princess Walinong Sari was a beautiful princess in Inderapura, now known as Pahang.  She was interested in silat, the Malay martial arts and learned the art from a young age. She became skilful in silat and also picked up other skills like sword fighting and throwing spears.

More story in the book soon. Gotta finish this for Abu Dhabi International Book Fair.

    PL365: #big_personality

I hated the first one I drew, so I draw a new one. This is Gunung Ledang princess. I am adding more details and decide to add pen to watercolor unlike the previous one; just watercolor.

    bigpersonality

Princess Gunung Ledang lived in a magical palace at the peak of Gunung Ledang in what is now known as the state of Johore. She was believed to possess magical powers. Stories of her prowess and beauty spread far and wide and reached the ears of the great Sultan of Malacca, Sultan Mahmud Shah son of Sultan Alauddin Riayat Shah.

At that time, Malacca was a great and rich country and travelers come from as far as China, Europe and Arab to trade in Malacca. It was a busy and bustling cosmopolitan city.

This and more soon on my Malaysian Princesses.

    Malay Princesses

Moving on to a much interesting project: Puteri-Puteri Melayu—my next book. Am going to illustrate 8 Malay princesses and the first one will be this; Cik Siti Wan Kembang, the warrior princess. My publisher has compiled the text and I just need to do some research on the clothing and illustrate.

History has it that Princess Cik Siti Wan Kembang’s father was the Ruler in an area that is now known as the state of Kelantan. Her father was Raja Ahmad and her mother Cik Banun, both from royal lineage. However, Raja Ahmad died when Princess Cik Siti Wan Kembang was only four years old. Raja Hussein from Johore was appointed as regent to rule Kelantan.

Longer stories on my upcoming book. Stay tuned!

P/S My Mother’s Kitchen (MMK) picture book is 90% done and I just got the edited text from the editor. Hope MMK and Malay Princesses will be ready before I leave for Abu Dhabi International Bookfair so that I have more picture books to showcase. 😉
