Malaysia Airlines Kids Fly for Free Campaign
I got this job two weeks before I went to Abu Dhabi. Although I was busy preparing stuff to take to Abu Dhabi, I agreed to take up the job. Who wouldn’t, right? A big job from a big client like Malaysia Airlines is something good for my portfolio. After having 3 or 4 times amendments on 3 sets of artworks (print, web and booklet), they finally got approved a day before I leave. All the files were so big and uploading seemed like forever. But Alhamdulillah, all went through.
This one is from the first set; 1 of 3 illustrations for print ads. Β The layout was done by Ogilvy & Mather (Malaysia) creative team.
I think my signature should be smaller there. But nonetheless, thank you to MAS for making it visible in the advertisement.
I’ll post more soon as the next ones are out.

I keep on drawing on daily basis on my sketchbook; trying to improve it better. I promote it here on my blog, social media platforms such as FB, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn and Google. I also submitted my blgo to the search engine so that when people search for illustrations, my blog will be included in the search result. Joining Illustration Friday (IF) is good too. It helps us make new friends and receive traffic from all over the world.
I built my portfolio from personal projects as well as from IF. Then a cartoonist found me and introduced me to a publisher. And that is how my career soars. Try to attend workshops or sell your items at flea market. This is a good way also to promote your artwork. Other than that, join community such as SCBWI, they helped a lot in giving career advice.

And then try to go to bookfairs around the world. Or near you. this is a good way to make connection with publishers or bookfair organisers. In my case of Abu Dhabi, I got to know the organiser from Frankfurt bookfair. Few months after that, they e-mailed me and invite me for Abu Dhabi bookfair.

Oh wow Emila thanks so much for sharing your tips! Haha! Small world, I used to submit to Illustration Friday a lot when I first started my blog! But I’ve since moved onto working on more self-initiated projects! Def want to visit overseas book fairs! It must be so amazing to be inspired and be in a different country!!
emila
No problem, Robyn! Glad to share. Self initiated project is good! Yes, you must go one day and I hope to see!
