    WiP: Princess book

I am now in the process of adding background to all eight princesses and making the book layout. Here is a screen-capture of what I am currently doing now. I am way behind my deadline and hope to finish this by tonight so that I can carry on with preparing merchandise items to bring to Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF). This book will also follow me to ADIBF.

    Discover the spirit of Japan

My mother-in-law, her sister and husband (Bak Cu and Pak Cu) and my sister-in-law is now holidaying in Japan to visit Udin (Bak Cu and Pak Cu’s son) who is studying Mechanical Engineering in Shibaura Institute of Technology, Minato-ku, Tokyo. Udin is having his convocation there, that’s the main reason they are there. They went a week ago and will be coming back in few days time. They seem to enjoy it there, they went shopping, they went to Nippori (textile town), they went for spa, they went to Yokohama port and many more. My sister-in-law posted great photos from Japan and one if it being interviewed by Fuji TV!

I could not help but feeling envy; envy in a good way as it really makes me want to visit Japan and this has triggered me to find out more about Japan. I came about this interesting video about Japan ‘Discover the Spirit of Japan’ on YouTube, thought I share it with here. Jom, let’s discover Japan! Japan is so on my travel bucket list now.

And as for Udin, he will be working there after having been graduated from Shibaura Institute of Technology last March 16. He will start working this coming April 1 with KAO Co. Ltd. for few years. He has been staying there for 4 years now and can speak Japanese fluently as he took 5 years course learning Japanese language; 3 years with UNISEL and 2 years in Japan.

When asked about the people in Japan, Udin told me they are very helpful people and willing to help the best they can provided that we can speak their language. They love it when foreigner can speak their language. So this is a good tip for us if we want to visit Japan.

Good luck Udin, all the best from Malaysia! I will definitely find you if I have the chance to visit Japan.

Kota Buku donates paintings for School-in-Hospital (SDH)

Remember that I paint something during Children’s Literature Festival last year?

Yesterday I saw it being handed officially by Raja Zarith Sofiah binti Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah to Deputy Prime Minister’s wife, Puan Sri Noorainee Abdul Rahman, who is the patron of ‘Hati Nurani’ project.

Puan Sri Hajah Noorainee binti Abdul Rahman, DPM’s wife and right; DYMM Raja Zarith Sofiah binti Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah. Also present to witness was Dr. Haji Awang bin Sariyan, Director General, DBP (in blue batik).

For your information, The SDH, carried out in collaboration with the Education and Health Ministries, was inspired by the Deputy Prime Minister’s wife, Puan Sri Noorainee Abdul Rahman. The project is aimed at providing formal education to students and children treated at hospitals.

Raja Zarith Sofiah who has authored several children’s books, including Puteri Gunung Ledang will be the patron for future children’s literature activities organised by Kota Buku and DBP.

A total of 10 paintings (out of 30; including mine) painted during Children’s Literature Festival, University of Malaya (UM) were donated to SDH during Prize giving ceremony of ‘Peraduan Mengarang Buku Bergambar Kanak-kanak 2012’ organised by Kota Buku and Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka yesterday at Prince Hotel, KL.

GayaTravel 8.1 Cover and Em’s Diary

I’m back in KL! 3 days trip to Hong Kong is so short. Hope to visit again someday.

Got a copy of GayaTravel magazine in my hands. Yay, happy to see my illustration on the cover as well my own column: Em’s Travel Diary.

But please do take note that as the magazine didn’t use any of my vectors, I feel that the statement “…so I said yes; not to just this diary and the cover but also the many vector arts you see in this magazine”  in Em’s Travel Diary (page 110-111; line 21) is totally obsolete. It should be read as “…so I said yes; not to just this diary but also the cover”.

Nonetheless, I am happy to see the cover and my Em’s Travel Diary spread column. Now working on next diary entry for Issue 8.2. Thanks GayaTravel team!

I have 5 copies to give away to first 5 commenters who completed this sentence, ” I want GayaTravel magazine because….”
