Are you an artist? Are you inspired by Earth Science issues? Are you based in South East and East Asia? If yes, read on.
EOS-NTU is launching a pilot program that aims to foster collaborations between artists and earth scientists. Offering up to a SGD20,000 grant each to five regional artists based in Asia and East Asia towards the development, production and creation of an artwork that is based on issues of earth sciences, the EOS Visiting Artist Program (EOS VAP) intends to highlight and give opportunities to up and coming and/or established artists to realise their project.
The Earth Observatory of Singapore is a Research Centre of Excellence located on the campus of Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. EOS has a mission to conduct fundamental research on earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunami and climate change in and around Southeast Asia, towards safer and more sustainable societies.
The EOS Visiting Artist Program will only consider proposal(s) that are fully funded by EOS. Participation per artist is limited to one project. Matriculated students are not eligible for EOS VAP 2012 funding. The grant is open to all artists who are based in South East and East Asia.
The categories of artworks that will be considered for the grant can fall under:
a) Visual Arts
b) Cinematic Arts
c) Multimedia Arts
d) Performing Arts
The form can be downloaded from the website: EOS VAP – Visiting Artist Program 2012.
I am thinking of submitting a proposal myself but still working on what to propose. Do visit the website to learn more about the program and grant.
