De Palma Kuala Selangor #depalmahotel
When my family and I went to Kuala Selangor to visit the Kampung Kuantan Fireflies Sanctuary, we didn’t plan where to stay. As I know there is a De Palma Kuala Selangor, I suggested to my husband that we should check the place out. We just drove around and followed directions to the place.
After going through the registration process like any other hotels, we walked to our room. Our room is in the form of a Malay wooden chalet! I love it! Although it is not fully traditional, the main features are there; the wooden house, the verandah and the cylindrical column posts.
I like the fact that the room is equipped with praying mat, direction of Qiblat as well as Al-Quran. For your information, All De Palma hotels are Syariah Compliant and De Palma is the first to pioneer Syariah Compliant Hotel after recognising the needs of Muslim travellers who had difficulty in obtaining hotels to suit their lifestyles.
My favourite spot here is the area facing the admin building equipped with wooden benches. I managed to sit there for about an hour and draw. While I draw, my son took the opportunity to play in the pool and make new friends.
During our stay, there was a group having a family day or something and they had a barbecue picnic. Intrigued by the idea, I went and check with the front reception and yes, they cater barbecue picnic to a group of 20 or more. Yay! I thought this is great because I am thinking of having a family day since last year and this is just the right place to hold such event. Other facilities here include banquet facilities, ballroom, musollah, outdoor court and meeting room. While services include free WiFi service, laundry, Mountain Bicycles rental, newspaper upon request, outdoor/field trip package and 24 hours security.
Overall, our stay here was great. As for food, I didn’t have any from the hotel (except breakfast on the checkout day) because after my son had finished having fun with his new-found friends, we went to Malawati Hill, Kuala Selangor Nature Park and Kg Kuantan Fireflies Sanctuary and had our lunch and dinner around Kuala Selangor.
For those who live in the city and in need a quick getaway, De Palma Kuala Selangor is the place to be. Just about an hour drive from Kuala Lumpur, De Palma Kuala Selangor is located in the heart Kuala Selangor town. You can get here by car or bus. From KL take the Sungah Buloh trunk road and from there will be many signboards directing you to Kuala Selangor. GPS coordinates is 3.349436,101.240473. You can also take Selangor Bus 141 from Pudaraya Station, KL.
—————Now, we move on to the best part—————
I have made an effort to contact the management for a hotel-stay sponsorship by e-mail. And few weeks after that I got a call from Ms. Michelle from De Palma Hotels management office for a meeting. After having discussion over tea and jemput-jemput and goreng pisang, De Palma Hotels is happy to sponsor a 2 Days & 1 Night stay at De Palma Kuala Selangor! Yay!
Now, do you like to win the stay?
If you do, here’s the catch:
- Leave a comment and tell me (and the management of De Palma Hotels) why you deserve this stay.
- You need to share this entry using the above social media buttons.
- Follow De Palma Hotels on FB: facebook.com/depalmahotels
and twitter: twitter.com/depalmahotel
That’s it, 3 simple steps. You DO NOT have to follow me or write a post in your blog or subscribe to my blog in order to participate in this contest. But if you win, a thank you note linking back to http://www.depalmahotel.com is good enough.
The lucky winner will be selected based on the most creative comment. Judging will be done by me and Ms Michelle from De Palma Hotels. Closing date is 1 June 2012; 11.59pm.
Treat this as warm greetings from De Palma Hotels management and a thank you gesture from me to you for reading my blog. Good luck!

Dear Kak Emila,
It looks like an ideal place for me and my family. We love the outdoors but we’re always looking for a family friendly environment with fun activities, and charge reasonable rates. Being syariah compliant gives us the confidence that the management are care about the guests needs and therefore this reflects the whole outlook of the facility. Love the fact that it’s also not too far from the city if we wanted a quick getaway.
emila
T, this is awesome reason! Thanks for participating.

First of all, I would like to say that the idea of a syariah compliance hotel is just brilliant!
The reasons why I deserve a free stay in De Palma Inn Kuala Selangor are :
1. I personally think that all hotels in Malaysia (a majority Muslim country) should also be syariah compliant. And I applaud De Palma for being the pioneer.
2. I really want to experience the stay in a Syariah compliant hotel and then share it with my friends and my blog readers.
3.

Hi kak Emila, I want to win the 2 Days & 1 Night stay at De Palma Kuala Selangor Hotel, not for me, but for my best friend, Yenny and her family.
Yenny got married 2 years ago, exactly yesterday, 29 May 2009 to Mr A. Now, she has a beautiful baby boy, Qaleed, who’s going to be 1 year old in August 2012.
I want to win this for Yenny because she’s been there for me, no matter what, although she lives in Pahang and I’m in Kuching, Sarawak. Yenny and her family deserves such a nice stay at De Palma Hotel Kuala Selangor, and it will be perfect if I win this for them as their 2nd wedding anniversary gift.
Both Yenny and her husband love nature. She worked with Malaysian Nature Society before, and her husband is currently working with Jabatan Perhilitan. They both enjoy nature so much, and I still remember following Yenny to catch bats (yes, bats) at night for her Masters program. On the other hand, her husband loves photography and birds, and when they had time and before Qaleed was born, they would go to Fraser’s Hill for birding activities.
I really think this would be a great gift for Yenny and her family, as they’ve been working hard lately and they need some time off for a vacation. I would love to win this for Yenny, my bff. 🙂
Thanks in advance, Kak Emila and to De Palma Hotel. 🙂

It’s not easy to handle three little kids during my family vacation. My husband and I couldn’t enjoy happy moment like others, because we had to keep an eye on our kids all the time. My husband and I then decided that, if we want to have more enjoyable holidays, we should change the way we plan our holidays. It should be a big family vacation instead.
So, this time around, we are planning to have an extended family vacation, which would also included member of my aunt’s and my brother’s families. My aunt, who is also the babysitter of my three kids, could then assist us in taking care of the kids. This will then free us to have more enjoyable private time.
De Palma Hotel seems to be a perfect place for this extended family vacation. My husband and I love the beautiful wooden chalet. My aunt and uncle must have fallen in love with the calm and fresh environment, and also the idea of the barbeque picnic. My kids and their uncles and aunties would spend hours playing in the pool. Staying at the hotel will also give us a chance to visit Kg Kuantan Fireflies Sanctuary. It’s like a sweet dream for me and I hope it will turn to reality.

Awesome! Very valid reason to visit De Palma! Yes, De Palma is a good place to have family gathering. Don’t forget to try the BBQ. Kalau Syuq nak pergi Kg Kuantan, I think they provide transport also. Hari tu lupa nak tanya.
emila
Yup. Buat semianr pun ok. Masa breakfast sebelum checkout tu, ada a group of people having seminar sebab tengok atas few meja ada reserve nama company.
Syuq
Terima kasih k.Em.. Mmg menarik baca entri k.Em pasal De Palma ni… tak pernah tahu ada tempat menarik macam ni area Kuala Selangor 🙂

A bunch of amazing friends of mine and I are graduating this year (finally!) and it would be nice if we can have a little bit of mini vacation somewhere away from civilization and reality – even though we can never run away from the fact that real life begins soon after the oh-so-dreamy vacation ends. Sigh…
(haha so not creative T_____T)

Dear Kak Emila and De Palma Hotel’s management,
Why i want to win a stay at De Palma Kuala Selangor? Because i would love for my son, Qeeb to experience a nature getaway and stay in traditional chalet with a modern touch. Play in the pool, lots of space to run, and visit all the places of interest nearby, listen to the ‘nature’ sound at night and loads of other activities.
I bet i will get a good hotel service too!
soulie
Ok there goes my entry 🙂 good luck to everyone as well

my younger sister used to do internship in De Palma but in Ampang particularly in the kitchen since she learned culinary.. tapi kakaknya sendiri tak pernah sampai ke De Palma apatah lagi menginap kat sana.. huhu..
