Old sketches

Lucky these sketches are in permanent ink. Managed to save them during the squall few days ago. These are made in 1995 when I first started my career as graphic artist. My then boss didn’t like me, somebody told me that he said that I can’t really draw. Truth is, I don’t have the black & white certification of higher education in art. The only thing that I have was SPM Certificate with a distinction for the Art subject.

Anyway, it was a challenge of sort for me. I learned to better myself. I always believe that I can draw.

hmm same for me too. They need to see the certificate that you are really certified in art. i don’t take art in college /secondary schools. boohoo. but it doesn’t pull me down. i still keep drawing till now. 🙂 and you emila, i believe you can draw and i see that. *teehee*

tell you the truth, drawing has no certificates. Your drawing it the proof. Ask around, how many art student can really draw freehandedly.
I can tell you. not much. They tends to rely on software too much.

Art sense is there when you look differently and of cos, practices makes perfect.

Thanks Pupu! But you still went to college you know, I didn’t. Hehe anyway, glad to have a self-taught buddy like you. Am so proud of you!

Thanks Kiro for the kind words. Yeah, as the matter of fact, my junior designer last time, couldn’t draw a thing. Like what you said, he too is dependant mostly on softwares.

kak emila, i’m a self taught too. i was in science stream so there was no art subject in any of my certificate.

if somebody tell me today that i can’t draw. yeah, i admit lah. but u r an idol to me. whatever ur former boss said, it was 13 years ago! hehe masa tu saya masih lap hingus pakai sapu tangan. but look how much u had improved today! i’m so proud of u.

i was a very ambitious person during school but now i really dont know what i’m good at, or what i really want to be. i am very much in the middle of idle state NOW. i have a piece of paper saying that i got a degree in something (i feel ashame to say this) but so far it is pretty much wasted.

u know kak emila, i think u r a very talented artist. knowing u somehow, make me see there’s light for me at time when i really feel low. i enjoy being surrounded by creative people like u, pupu, rizal, kak ida etc.

    go go chayuk!
