Self-hosted WordPress

Hi all! If you see my blog switching off and on to different template, just be patient. I’m in the middle of switching from wordpress.com to my own self-hosted wordpress. The dns takes up to 48 hrs to fully point to the new one.

I’ve been trying to import comments from Haloscan but to no avail. I’ve tried Justins plugin and it doesn’t work as my comments are not Blogger base. Some comments are in the posts because I’ve entered them myself! I know it’s silly but I’m desperate to keep all the precious comments! I did leave a message for Justin and do hope that he will help me.

You can directly import the xml file into the mysql db used by wordpress. The manual method is a bit complicated, but you can use Navicat to upload. Use the wizard in Navicat as it’s easier.

    Download it here:
    http://www.navicat.com/download.html

This is a full-function 30 days demo. So try to upload the comments within this time frame.

Emila, I’ve read your note saying that navicat is not working for you. Well, without direct access to your db, I really can’t say what’s wrong as the config is a bit complicated.

hmm, the only other way is to manually edit your xml file to conform to the wordpress structure, and upload it directly from wordpress using the import option. If you want, you can email me the xml file and I can take a look at it for you.
