    Land Before Time

    dinotrek2 - inside near entrance

Took a day off today and visited Petrosains, The Discovery Centre at KLCC with my son and husband. My son, at the time being, is amazed with dinosaurs and last week while browsing MPH’s bookshelves he picked up a book about dinosaur and of course I had to buy it. He is in a learning process and is really excited to learn more about dinosaurs. Looking at his enthusiasm about dinosaurs, my husband and I took him to the Dinotrek 2 exhibition at Petrosains. (<–click thumbnail to see larger version).

It was fun learning about dinosaurs. I mean, I never had much effort to learn more about dinosaurs but I learned quite a lot of facts and theory there and one of it was the extinction of dinosaurs. Dinosaurs disappeared from the face of the earth some 65 million years ago and it was all due to a giant asteroid that struck the earth. To me it makes sense as the extinction went mass; all of a sudden, the dinosaurs were wiped out and there must be something big that had happened. Well, of course after learning about it, I went googling to find more about the extinction. Found out that there’s a new theory that it was not due to asteroid but due to volcano that erupted in India.

Anyway, back to Petrosains. We spent 3 hours at Dinotrek 2. Yassin had fun being a paleontologist; he dug and found a fossil!!

He was quite engrossed (so was my husband and me!) to discover more about dinosaurs through the detailed explanations, animatronic models,  interactive games and quizzes. Dinotrek 2 showcases 5 types of dinosaurs (out of 527 recognized today!!) and they are Protoceratops, Spinosaurus, Stegosaurus, Tyrannosaurus Rex and Velociraptors.

Lol, I think I’ve talked long enough; if you want to experience the fun; visit Dinotrek 2 at Petrosains, The Discovery Centre, KLCC. Tickets for adult is Rm6.00, children RM3.00. You can find millions of information available about dinosaurs on the net; from Wiki, Mail Online, Discovery Channel, National Geographic and many more.

Here are more pictures from our visit to Dinotrek 2:

And oh, if you visit Dinotrek2, don’t forget to do that Dino Dance; your action will be snapped. There will be 5 shots altogether (You”ll be chromakeyed with the dancing dinosaurs!) and you can directly e-mail the pictures to yourself using the computer stationed there! Here are our snapped photos, it’s not quite clear though as it captured video frames (720 x 576 at 72dpi).

    Up on the hill

We went up the Langat Hill earlier tonight just to catch a glimpse of KL cityline while having a breath of fresh air.

    kl view

My son wanted to know how does other cities in the world looks like. I told him the big cities in the world look similar; only with different buildings and landscapes. He asked me to bring him to one of those big cities one day. I just told him, “one day dear, one day.” We’ve been to almost all parts of Malaysia and I think one fine day (when I save enough money), I’ll consider one of those Orlando vacations and head to the Magical Kingdom of Walt Disney with him. Well maybe with husband too if he wants to go. He’s not into traveling overseas because he has been places he said.

    I’m back…

…from Raub! Went back with mom (who has been been in KL for the school holiday), my two nephews and son. My husband was not able to join us due to heavy workloads.

We went to Lata Lembik and all of us had great time!

Ok, a bit about Lata Lembik. It is situated North West of Raub and is in the Batu Talam state constituency. From Raub town, it is actually 43km and you need to drive another 1.5km deep in the Buntu Post, an orang asli settlement to reach Lata Lembik. It has amenities such as public toilet, surau, multi-purpose hall and few little chalets for rental. Of course it is nothing like those from Outer Banks rentals but, for nature-lover who love to spent time within the lush greenery and rapid water, this is the place.

    Balik kampung

We went back to Tangkak last Saturday because Yassin was so bored doing nothing at home. We spent time visiting Yassin’s cousin, Idham and Yassin got to meet with his grandparents new kids as well!

In the excitement to help his grandmother with the kid’s den, Yassin fell into a ditch and his ankle hit a broken glass. He got 2 stitches for that.

Yassin was crying during the stitching process and almost kicked the doctor but his dad was quick enough to hold and calm him.

    Here’s more photos from kampung:

    Journey of Water *

    Guess where we went today?

silhouette of Yassin and me (photo by my husband, Zaim)

We visited Aquaria @ KLCC today! It has been quite sometimes that I wanted to go but since I need to snap photos for my Nature Study personal project, we finally went there today. I need subjects other than flowers.

As we went in, we got to meet Bamboo Sharks, Horseshoe Crabs and starfish at the DNA Touch Pool.

Our ‘Journey of Water’ starts right after the DNA Pool. The exhibits in Aquaria are divided into 6 zones, The Highland, Jewels of The Jungle, Flooded Forest, The Coast, The Living Reef and The Living Ocean.

..and finally the Seahorse. It was very hard to snap its picture as it was moving all the time
but I managed to snap few good shots.

We definitely will visit the Aquaria KL again and also plan to visit Underwater World Langkawi soon.

    Birds Park revisited *

The last time we went to Birds Park it was December 2006. Since it was school Holiday for a week, I took my family to Birds Park last Saturday. There was 10 of us; my mother, my sister and bro-in-law with their 4 children, my cousin, my son and me.

We had fun but it turned sour when Yassin lost his pink Gameboy. We went back to the Birds Park to look for it but it was no more there.
