Sketchbook 2011

My sketchbook has arrived at Art House Co-op!
Phew! I thought my sketchbook has gotten lost along the way from Malaysia to The United States as I haven’t received any notification from Art House Co-op. But yesterday, all my worries went away as I received a notification from them:
Dear Nor,
We just received your submission for The Sketchbook Project: 2011!
Remember that you can upload pictures of your piece at http://arthousecoop.com/submissions/38252-boys-girls-a-to-z-things-they-love-to-do/photos/new !
We hope to see you at an exhibition!
So, my sketchbook will be amongst 28838 sketchbooks to tour the following cities: Brooklyn NY, Austin TX, San Francisco CA, Portland ME, Atlanta GA, Chicago IL, Washington, DC and Winter Park, FL under The Sketchbook Project 2011 Exhibition. I am truly honoured to have joined this project. This project is not a contest nor they pay me for my sketchbook. It is all about sharing artwork with tens of thousands of people. This is because artists/illustrators who participated came not only from the United States but also from all over the world and many of them will be joining the tour. I, on the other hand, will not be able to make it due to financial constraint. Nevertheless, I hope to make it to Brooklyn Library, where my sketchbook will reside permanently, someday.
For those who are not in the know, I have joined this project last year and completed my sketchbook in December 2010. You can view my sketches here: Boys and Girls , The Sketchbook Project 2011 (my blog) or here: Emila Yusof’s Submission for The Sketchbook Project 2011, Art House Co-op.
Here are random sketches from my sketchbook:

Video of Boys and Girls Sketchbook
Finally, a video of the sketchbook and short snippet on the making of the cover at the end. Enjoy!
Please take note that all quotes on the left side of the sketchbook will not be on the real one. They are collective quotes on what i wrote in this blog for each sketch. I just realised that it seems like they’re part of the sketchbook. I am too lazy to render the video again, so I just let it be.

Bye bye Sketchbook!
Sadly departed with my cahier sketchbook as it’s making its journey to the USA this morning. Hopefully it will reach Art House @ Brooklyn Library before January 15th 2011.
It will be sadly missed. Till we meet again when time (and financial) permits.

Acrylic and pen on moleskine cahier kraftboard cover using flat brush. The process will be shown in my upcoming video of the whole sketchbook. Stay tune!

Sketchbook Project 2011: Z = Zoom
One minute they are in front of you, the next you’ll only hear them from the neighbour’s house.
I am basically done! Will send it to Art House, USA hopefully by this week!
