    Magic Mirror Exhibition *

The opening ceremony of Magic Mirror Exhibition yesterday at Kerinchi Foyer, Wisma UOA, Jalan Pantai Jaya went smoothly and the event was launched by Encik Yusof Gajah, a famous illustrator and painter who is well known for his elephant paintings as well as his Tiga Ekor Gajah children’s book. He has won the 1997 Grand Prix award at Noma Concours for Children’s Picture Book Illustration in Japan. In his speech, Encik Yusof said that unlike children’s books, new babies are born every seconds every day locally and it is the duty of local writers and illustrators to come up with more children’s books to make sure that our children will have good reading material to grow up with. He also expressed his hope to see that special art studio facilities being set up in schools to encourage future young illustrators. Others who attended the event were Mr Justin Tan, CEO of Extol MSC Berhad, Linda Tan Lingard, SCBWI Regional Advisor, Mr Peter Worthington, children’s books writer of Animal Adventure Series (all the books were illustrated by Nur Azmi), all illustrators involved, publishers as well as representatives from Children’s Homes. In the event, representatives from Oyez Books, Kohwai & Young, Arus Intelect and Edition Plus have generously donated books to St. Barnabas Children’s Homes and Rumah Anak Yatim Hajjah Kamariah.

I finally met Ken Ong and Yoon See at the Magic Mirror Exhibition’s yesterday. Beside them, Kak Farihah, Dilla and Iwan also attended the event. My best buddy Daliza was stucked in a meeting and could not make it earlier. By the time she messaged me and was on her way, I was already on my way home. Thank you so much Daliza for the effort and I love, love, love you for that. Marzie, my online and also offline best buddy, also could not make it but she has done a very big favor by translating Magic Mirror in the news for me! Thank you so much Marzie, I love you as much as I love Daliza itu!

    Tribe Toyota Bash

I was invited to join in the Tribe Toyota Bash event at Cineleisure Outdoor Carpark with 5 other bloggers from the Advertlets team, namely Josh Lim, Joshua Lee, Rames, Amanda and Ji Yuan yesterday. The event was held to promote awareness among Tribe Toyota members and also the public on the importance of caring for the environment.

The event also marked the success of Tribe Toyota members in creating the biggest Toyota logo made out of 20,000 recyclable aluminium cans thus creating history in the Malaysia Book of Records. The logo was officiated by Mr Kuah Kock Heng, Managing Director of UMW Toyota Motor and Encik Ismet Suki, UMW Toyota Motor Director of Customer Services Group when they put down another two cans to complete the logo; making it 22,000 cans in total.

The logo which was measured approximately 30 feet x 20 feet has been endorsed by Malaysia Book of records official, Mr Ricky Yap and all proceeds collected for the Tribe Toyota Bash event plus the returns from recycling (look here to know about the Reliable Skip Hire Bournemouth services that are available around the neighborhood) have been donated to Yayasan Anak Warisan Alam (YAWA).

Making this impressive Toyota logo out of 22,000 cans must have taken a lot of effort and coordination from Tribe Toyota members. They must have also needed an efficient waste management system to handle the massive amount of recyclable cans that were used. It’s possible that they relied on Dumpster Rental Services – Grissman Dumpsters to collect and transport the cans to the recycling facility. Companies like Grissman Dumpsters provide reliable dumpster rental services for large events and businesses that generate significant amounts of waste. By choosing a reputable dumpster rental service like Grissman Dumpsters, Tribe Toyota members could ensure that their waste was properly managed and recycled, reducing their environmental impact and contributing to a more sustainable future.

To read more about it, please go to Tribe Toyota Bash.

The event was so full of fun as there were games, stage performance, clowns, and many more. Here are more pictures from the event (please wait while it loads, am using flickr slideshow):

Recycling means that you put your refuse back into use over and over again. Every time you do so you save:
