An attempt…

I am currently working on a children’s picture book and have all the illustrations done (in the process of coloring the illustrations). It’s a story about a cat. Maybe later, I will write a story about a bird or a cow; to complement the cat. My goal this time is to get it published. I think this goal will take me some time and I don’t know if I will ever get it published.

I know it is not a trend here in Malaysia to write and illustrate children’s picture books but I want to give it a try. I want to contribute whatever I can to the local children’s books industry. I am a junkie for children’s picture books and I believe I am not the only one.

Creating art with great inventions!

Me and Yassin!
(Material: watercolor)

These inventions (sewing machine, pigments, computer, printer, canvas, brush, pen, pencil, etc) has helped me realised what I have in my head. There’s just no shortage of inventions to help my creative juices flow from mind to pen to paper, to brush to canvas – or should I say, to keyboard to screen!

I drew this using watercolor on acid-free watercolor paper and later scanned it into photoshop to put photos of my son, his painting (upper right) and my painting (middle) using masking effect.

Illustration Friday – Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving turkey on vacation!!
Material: watercolor & ink

This is my first submission to Illustration Friday. I’ve been wanting to submit for months but there always seems to be something that stops me from getting to it. This time I’m going to make sure that I will take the time to do what gives me great pleasure. I admire all those artists that submit every week and I’ve certainly bookmarked many blogs and websites. I hope to become part of this community.

For friends who wants to know what Illustration Friday is all about, just click the logo. Enjoy!!

Creative Block

little fairy princess

I hit this creative block few days ago, and can’t seem to slip out. So how do I get out of this rut? I paint. I did this little fairy and thought she’s pretty cute (yeah, taking my long lunch time). I think I’ll call her Comel.

Material: oil pastels, color pencils and marker.

…and did a sketch of my unkempt side table…

Material: Markers (Artline 0.6 & Kurecolor 831)
