    Primitive II – IF

    Back to Nature | Digital

So, ok, my first ‘primitive’ painting below was a bit too primitive. Here’s a not-so-primitive one. Done in AI, 2 hours, fully vectors.

You know, sometimes it’s good to go camping and stay away from the complex modern technologies.

I’m going for a short holiday to Port Dickson (Wed – Fri) and hope to find nature at its best but of course, I’ll bring along my complex modern gadget: the camera, with me. My old primitive brain can’t capture much these days!

Mari Tulis Jawi | Let’s Write Jawi
    Acrylic on Moleskine

Nisah Haron noticed the missing dot in my ‘Jim’ alphabet. Here’s the corrected version. I swear I had the dot in pencil before burnishing it with permanent marker! Oh, malunya hati ini!

Jawi is the primitive writing scripts for the Malay Language. It was adapted when Islam arrived in southeast Asia during the 14th century and was the dominant writing in the Malay world. However, it was replaced by the Latin alphabet in the 17th century, under influence from the Dutch and British.

Today, the use of Jawi Malay scripts is considered to be an endangered script. It is mainly used for Islamic religious documents only.

Failure to Launch | Digital Vector

The theme this week is ‘Fail’. I am rushing for a job which is due tomorrow and have been behind the desk since morning. I guess small illo break won’t hurt. A quickie of Grin, done in AI, 10 minutes.

Now I’m having my coffee break. Later, shower break. Lol, I’ve been having all sort of breaks, no wonder I haven’t finished yet!

And oh, I did have a long nap break in the afternoon!  😛

  • ABOUT ME,  moleskine

    Out of the shell!

I have always been inferior when it comes to meeting people. I am so afraid that I make a fool out of myself. When Helmy invited me to join him at the book fair, I said ‘ok’. But when the time drew near, I told Helmy ‘maybe’. I always like to change my mind the very last minute. I told my husband, Zaim, that I have second thoughts. Zaim told me that one of the tips (by the late Lim Goh Tong) to be succesful is to never cancel appointments or meeting (I reminded him that it’s only a bookfair). He looked at me in the Emila!, Ida and Bapakeyes dengan garangnya and told me to just be myself and go with the flow.me, ida and bapak
And so I did. I went out of my coconut shell (or shall I say tempurung!) and met people. Zaim is so right, it wasn’t that hard. I met bloggers, whom I got to know their names from Helmy. I never got to talk to them but knowing who’s who is good enough. I saw Jiwarasa. I saw Ted Mahsun. I saw Faizal Tehrani. I met Nisah Haron, the writer personally. Talked to her, she’s sweet, prettier up-close. I also got to meet and talked to Prof Dr. Siti Zainon Ismail (Bonda), an artist, poet, writer and Malay art, culture and heritage consultant! I met with Anis, a sweet lady who reads my blog. Yesterday I met Saharil Hasrin Sanin, a freelance illustrator/blogger. Saharil runs Saharil Conteng. And today I met Ida Kassim aka RichyReens who runs A room of Crazy Scrapper. She bought eight of my cards! I just can’t believe it! I’m so happy that I finally got to meet Ida. And guess what? I signed an autograph for Muhammad Akashah, a student and a fan from Kedah! Lol, this one was really not what I expected! I signed an autograph!

Bonda Siti Zai brought along her sketchbook and showed me the latest sketches of her new projects. Her pen sketches are amazing thus inspired me to start practising one! Mind the wording, it was just there to fill the empty space, and a bad attempt to write a poem 😳

Ros buat Mak | Acrylic on Canvas

My mom turned 63 on 10th April. My mom just loves roses so I made her this. Sorry for the poor quality of the photo, took it in the wee hour, bad lighting.
