    Oil paintings

Yeehaw! I found the picture of my first oil painting! Remember the one I told you about in my previous post? Sorry the picture was not too good, I was not into photography back then. In real life, it looked so vibrant and striking.

So, the size was 90cm x 90cm. It was so hard painting it as I did not have any experience using oil paints at all. Oil paints were very hard to control for a watercolor person like me. This painting was based on the living room of my then rented apartment. The blue cloth wasn’t supposed to be there but my then housemate, Ida (aka Khemy), thought it would look more artistic. I agreed. That was her skirt. I think this painting was so out of proportion, just look at the clog; bigger than the pot! Haha! There were so many things I would’ve improved! I wasn’t planning to sell it but then a friend of my sister-in-law said she wanted it badly and willing to pay for it, she thought that it suited her living room well. So I bid farewell to this untitled painting.

And oh, the clog! I remember joining an art class one fine Sunday with Suraya, my other then housemate, at the National Art Gallery. We were the only adults in the class! Lol! It was fun painting away with a bunch of already talented children! Below picture was taken few years later after I developed the interest in learning more about photography. The drop shadow was of a round underwear hanger ;P

The clog was all worn now, my mom wears it around the house.

Anyway, I did two more oil paintings (smaller scale: 40.6cm x 50.8cm) merely to get hold of the medium. These were based on photographs from magazines. I think I need to start practicing again with my own photos.

Two Less Lonely People | Oil on Canvas

My brother, Ewan is getting married this coming 27th and is busy decorating his newly-bought house. Went there couple of weeks ago to help out with his new curtains. His wide bare wall sure need some paintings and surely gave me an idea what to give for his wedding. I came up with a painting. Two Less Lonely People is basically about him starting a married life. Hope he will like it!
