    Interview with Lava Kids

When Roslan Isa, the PR Executive from PTS Marketing Department called the other day saying that they have set my interview with Lava Kids RTM, I panicked! I have never been interviewed before and was scared to my stomach! Frankly, I am very much comfortable answering online or e-mail interviews! I know there will come the time that I have to face the offline scenes and the public but did not expected it to be so soon. I am so not good in public speaking and this is why I was scared. Kak Nor and Ann, my lovely two buddies from PTS told me that I can do it. Believing in them I slowly believe in myself.

The interview was about my craft book, Origami in particular. The shooting took about 3 hours after many takes. Thanks to the compere and the crew, I didn’t fumbled at all! When it was all over, I was so in relief!

Assistant Producer of Lava Kids, Linda, the compere, cute Sabrina and me during the shooting. Thank you to Izwan and Ann for taking photos of me! Location: Bookcafe, PTS

    During the shooting.

But still, I fear any upcoming interviews!! I need to go for a public speaking class!!!

Ok ok, let’s put the fear aside.I’ll worry about that later.

I have a good news! My craft books will be available soon in my Littleshop. PTS has advanced me some books to sell 😉 Yay! A heartfelt gratitude to Ann for handling everything for me! I love you Ann!

Oh, I almost forgot, this particular episode will be aired on 10th April, 8.30am, TV2! Watch me, will you? Thanks bunch!

KL International Book Fair – Craft Books

While I was in Italy, my craft books made their way to the KL International Book Fair, PWTC, Kuala Lumpur! Ann, PTS Editor tagged me few photos in Facebook, here they are:

I wish I could have been there to join in the fun making crafts from my craft books! But really, I have made commitments to my agent/publisher to be in Bologna’s Children Book Fair, Italy. If only I could split my body!

I am not sure which bookstores carry my books but will keep you informed once I get the information from PTS. At the meantime, you can browse and buy all 5 titles at PTS Bookcafe.

Italy: Day 06 – Book Launching

I was not feeling quite well on the sixth day (Wednesday, 24th March 2010). I vomited the night before and my head was so heavy. The weather and my nose-bleeding must’ve been the root to my health. I wish I had Minyak Cap Kapak with me! Linda told me to rest awhile and after feeling a bit better, I took a taxi to the book fair. I had to be there as Linda told me earlier that a small launch for “My Mother’s Garden” will be held.

My book being launched by ITNM’s Chairman Dato’ Dr. Shahruddin Salleh.

The launch was witnessed by Mr Yeoh from Future Ace, Mr SH Lee (Sasbadi’s Publishing Director), Linda T Lingard (my agent/publisher), Hj Sahari Jantan (MEP Educare), Puan Norhayati (MBKM), just me, Dato’ Dr. Shahruddin Salleh (ITNM’s Chairman), En Redza Khairudin, IBBY Vice President, Hj Shaari Abdullah (President, Persatuan Pengedar Buku Bumiputera Malaysia), two trade visitors from Malaysia and En Shadri Abdullah (YPJ Publications).

Although small, the launching marked the new beginning of my career as children’s book author and illustrator.

The book will be available in Kinokunoya, MPH as well as The Borders next month. Will keep you informed when it really reaches the bookshelves!

Here’s a look at my book again:

    Finally, it’s done!

Phew! What a relief! I have just done the amendments to My Mother’s Garden book. Now I can attend to 50 illustrations (or 100, if possible)  to bring to Italy as well as two more craft books to write.

If you don’t see me here often, that is why.

Enjoy the view of the rainy day.

The publisher is  planning to launch it during KLIBF 2010 but I dunno if we can make it due to the clash of dates between the local fair and the Bologna one. If not, the launching will be done later.

    New cover

Linda Lingard, my sweet publisher, requested me to add borders to My Mother’s Garden book. Hope she likes it!

You can see typical flowers planted in Malaysia for the cover, well, at least these flowers are/were in my mother’s garden for real. There’s Rangoon Creepers, Morning Glory, Heliconia, Hibiscus, Birds of Paradise, Money Plant and a yellow-flowered crawling plant which I do not know the name. Please help me with the name if you know because I need to add it up to the glossary page. Been looking up in the Internet but couldn’t find it.

Anyway, here’s a reminder for those who are interested to join in a Picture Book Contest organised by OneRedFlowerPress.  I’ve put up a post about it: Do you have stories to tell. Do visit OneRedFlowerPress Contest for more details, k! Closing date for all entries is 30 April 2010.

    Final touches….

Went to see my publisher, Linda, on Friday and I have few amendments to make to my Mother’s Garden book before it’s good to publish. I have to add more butterflies, dragonflies, flowers and plants as well as a page to redo.

Took the chance to go and meet MarVic as well as collect my 2007 EA Form from my then employer, BERNAS. I really have to clear my income tax.
