Dental Extraction

I had my upper right third molar extracted yesterday. It was horrific. But believe me, the fault was all on me, I did not take good care of tooth. The female Dentist, like the one on All On 4 Clinic Melbourne, was very friendly and very professional and that goes to all the staff as well.

It was horrific because the root of my third molar was very strong despite the decaying outer part. After using 5 types of forceps, it was off for good. The dentist showed the extracted third molar, the root was quite crooked at the very end hence the strong grip to my gingiva. If you’re new to clear aligners, here’s more information about the dental conditions that clear aligners can treat.

I had a good deal of life, saved RM248! For third molar extraction at private clinic, the price is around RM250. But at government clinic, it is only RM2! I am really lucky to be a Malaysian! The subsidized dental care by the government helped me save a lot.

For your information, I visited Klinik Pergigian Cahaya Suria in KL for dental treatment. The registration process took about 10 minutes, after which I was assigned a turn number. The wait time for my appointment wasn’t long, only about 20 minutes, but it could vary depending on the cases being handled by the dentists at that time. In my case, I had a problematic third molar and the dentist took about half an hour to treat it. If you’re looking for a convenient location, you might want to consider a dentist on Caton Ave Brooklyn for your dental needs.

Please do not under-estimate the subsidized services offered by government. They have improved a lot over times and I suggest you try and go to government clinic for free treatments. You will save a lot. The pain? Whether it’s private or government clinics, the pain will be the same.

And before you leave, don’t forget to say thank you to the dentist and staff. I did, and they sure were happy when I did that. I think it has made their day.

Awesome πŸ™‚ For my wisdom tooth extraction a few years ago I volunteered to be a subject at Universiti Malaya dental hospital. Some students and a lecturing dentist worked on my tooth as part of the course program so I did not have to pay, and the students get to learn and gain experience helping a dentist perform tooth extraction surgery. Win-win situation for all πŸ™‚

Ouch! I hate getting any dental work. How nice to have subsidized work, though. I had my wisdom teeth removed in February and it cost $3,000 US (RM 6,000). My insurance paid for most but it still cost me about $500 US (RM 1,500). They put me to sleep and 10 minutes later I was awake with four less teeth! So at least my procedure was painless at the time of extraction.

At least it’s over for both of us! πŸ™‚

    Hi, thanks for sharing.

Awesome to read about your blog.

My wisdom tooth, upper jaw (2 tooths) and lower jaw (1 tooth) that needs extracting. Anyway, I wonder where to “park” the car upon arrival at Cahaya Suria building ?

    I am blur with roads.

Another case is, I’d asked about extracting the tooth, it costs RM800.00 at private clinic. Sheer robbery. I still have the wisdom tooth with me till this day, 1/4 coming out.

    Regards:
    Kathryna

    Hi Emila,
Thank you for this post. I need to extract my wisdom tooth and had been to the govt klinik in Desa Pandan, wait time was not a problem, she asked me if I wanted to do it there and then, and I decided to do it this Friday instead. However, when coming back, I start to have doubts, as the dentist did not do x-ray, or inform me to fast (for anaesthetic), so I start to wonder if I am doing the right thing to go to govt klinik.. I googled to find out other’s experiences to assure myself, and found your blog post. Thanks so much for writing about this!
May I ask- did the doctor take an xray before extraction, did they give you anaesthetic (I can’t imagine going under the surgery without!!!) and did they give you antibiotics and pain killers after? Because, RM2 is very little if included anaesthetic and medications for recovery.. How about the stitches, is it dissoluble or did you have to go back to the klinik to have it removed after a week?
I realise that your extraction was many years ago, but would really help me if you could remember these details.. Thanks so much!! πŸ™‚
