    Blogging live from PWTC

Yay! Me blogging live from Trade and Copyright Centre (TCC), Level 5, KL International Book Fair 2011, PWTC, Kuala Lumpur.

As a member of SCBWI Malaysia, I volunteered myself to look after the booth for two days as we have original paintings mounted on the panels as well as to promote myself as local illustrator. I also have little things here for sale with permission by the President of SCBWI Malaysia, Linda Tan. 🙂

This year, KLIBF 2011 is focusing more on Trade and Copyright Centre (TCC) which has been initially introduced and highly supported in the KLIBF 2010.TCC is basically a platform for publishers and buyers, both local and international to do right transaction for their products. TCC is proud to host appointments in-between buyer and seller of copyrights, as well as providing 20 booths for publishers who would prefer to visually exhibit their books.

SCBWI Malaysia (of which I am a member) is taking a big area at the end of Level 5 and is having small exhibition of illustrations by local illustrators. Our main objectives are to promote local books by local illustrators. We have a big main  illustration panel (front and back) and 4 single panels. The main one features winning artworks by our 3 local famous illustrators; Yusof Gajah, Jainal Amambing and Awang Fadilah. Taking small side of the main panel, I get to feature my original watercolor paintings of my Lil’ Guardians. Wanna see? Come to TCC, Level 5, PWTC.

    Main panel

All the panels are featuring the work of Nur Azmi Mokhtar and Donald ‘Dog’. You can see Azmi’s Tapir and Donald’s Dog on the panel. 😀

On the four single panels, we featured artworks namely by Nur Azmi Mokhtar, Sarah Joan Mokhtar, Tan Yisin, Tan Chao Ling, Tan Vay Fern, Tiong Chu Poh, Chua Tin Giap, Phobe Lim Yuqing, Mohd Razali Mat Rashad, Jaja Yusof, Lee Choi Yee and many more. We have two bookshelves here featuring books published by Oyez! Books and OneRedFlower.

Claim your old dormant Blogger blog

Have you created a blogger blog but have never logged in since 2007? Are the contents important to you? If they are, then you should consider logging in now and migrate from the old blogger system to the new one (well not so new since they upgraded the system in 2007.) If the contents are not that important, you just need to sit down, relax and kiss your old dormant blog goodbye.

According to Brett Wiltshire, Product Operations of Blogger, for a number of technical and operational reasons, they’ve decided to finally end their support for migrating legacy accounts and blogs after June 25th, 2011. But worry not, it only applies to a tiny fraction of users who haven’t logged in to Blogger since 2007. If you’ve logged in to Blogger at least one time since 2007, you won’t be affected at all.

So how do you update your old system to the new one?blogger blog

    1. Head over to the Legacy migration page and update your account.
    2. Confirm your old login, use your Blogger username and password. They’ll take all the blogs under this account and switch them to your Google Account.
    3. Next, choose a Google Account. After you sign in, they’ll have you choose which Google Account you’ll use to sign in with from now on. You can create a new Google Account or link to your existing one. If you prefer to stick with the Yahoo sign-in, there is no reason not to. Google would not delete non-Gmail accounts without notification but they encourage you to use any Google Account login (i.e. (youtube, orkut, picasa or other Google products).
    That’s it, Hello old blog!

    Header for Aida

Aida, a coffee addict, commissioned me for her new header.

    the cooffee addict

So how do I do a header?

Most of the headers that I did were done in Adobe Illustrator (AI) including the coloring. Every header that I illustrated was based on customer’s request and description. I won’t be making preliminary sketches for customer to see but instead, I directly do it in AI and later e-mail the finished one to customer. Any changes can be made after that. I can draw almost anything, you just need to mention what you want. Standard fee is RM100.

What is Adobe Illustrator? Adobe Illustrator software helps you create distinctive vector artwork for any project. It has the precision and power of sophisticated drawing tools, expressive natural brushes, and many more.

If you need to try the trial of latest version CS5, you can download from Adobe’s website. The last time I check, the price for this software alone is more or less RM3000 while the Creative Suite Design Standard Package is RM6000.
