    Emila meets Taheera

We’ve been introduced online by Helmy Samad and been FB friends for almost a month. And today, I got to meet her. I’ve been wanting to meet her and when she invited me to lunch with her in Jalan Ampang, I jumped to the chance. It’s not everyday that I got to meet a very talented and gifted musician.

For those who are into local music scene, Taheera Rosheena needs no introduction. She”s a famous singer and musician with her own special niche that sets her apart from others. She recently wrote songs for Datuk A. Samad Said’s poems and performed the pieces during his poetry recital, Suara Tulus, at Petronas Philharmonic Hall, KLCC in conjunction with KLCC Art Festival.

Back in 1999 and 2000, Taheera became the opening act for two renowned jazz musicians, Grammy Award winners Al Jarreau and Diana Krall during their first concerts in Malaysia. She was also given the acknowledgement by Billborad Magazine US (1999) as “One of The Most Promising Artiste” representing the Asian Region category.

Taheera is a highly dedicated mother of two and music remains as her serious hobby. You can read her poems and find out more about her at Kata Syahdu.

And she gave me beautiful jewelry pieces she made herself. I’m so happy.

Here are the three recent beautiful songs composed and performed by Taheera based on the Laureate’s poems in Rindu Ibu book.
