Singing bowls

Have you ever heard a bowl singing? Or at least heard or read about it? Well, today while net-walking, I found a site featuring singing bowls! Truly awesome!

So I stayed on longer and read more about the singing bowls. Those singing bowls came from Tibet and Nepal and are supplied by Silver Sky Imports, currently the largest supplier of handmade items from the Himalayas. They specialize in the largest variety of Tibetan Singing Bowls, Crystal Singing Bowls and many more.

singingbowlSo how does a crystal singing bowl works? “Gong” or “strike” the bowl. This is a simple method that involves striking the bowl with a wood or padded striker. When you strike the bowl, it will produce solid tones and these tones can alter your body functions. This has been scientifically proven, you know. When the body is suffering from a physical ailment (e.g. a failing kidney), the natural resonant frequency of sound that is produced by the kidney is reduced, creating an imbalance. With singing bowls, sounding the tone of the bowls can restore an ailing organ by projecting the sound into the body which helps to return the organ to a healthy resonant frequency.

But please,  before you go and buy the bowl please consult with your doctor first, ok.

  1. hello kak emila,
jsut to share, these bowls are also used to ‘neutralize’ crystals. You know, how people wear certain crystals to help certain ailments? well, you’d need to neutralize the crystals so that when you wear them, they’d be able to serap all the negative energies and spread the positive charges.

I’ve had my crystals re-neutralized in these bowls kat kedai jual kristal. You just put the crystals in the bowl and ketuk sekali. ada juga yang run the staff along the lips of the bowl or inside the bowl. it’ll produce a zinging sound, kadang2 quite sharp. after a while, the sound recedes and stops, and voila, the crystals are ready! but you’d have to reach in and take it yourself pasal you don’t want charges from someone else to lekat on the crystals.

      1. @emila, no problemo. just go to any kedai gelang2 kristal or those chinese shops that sells jade & batu2 tu, they should be able to help you choose the right crystals for you 🙂 do post pictures once you get ’em!

  2. Another wonderful distributor of the bowls is a company called Discover the Sound in Austin, TX. http://www.discoverthesound.com. If you would like to hear the bowls played, check out Ron Esposito’s CD “Open Heart” at http://www.ronesposito.com. In addition to being struck by the mallet, the bowls are actually stirred along the outside rim, where there are several rows of ridges. The same principal is applied as when you run your finger along the edge of a crystal glass. I think you’ll enjoy the music!
