Peacock

This drawing is based on my photo during the trip to Birds Park. My watercolor moleskine: 48 pages to go.

Indian Blue Peacock | watercolor + colored pencil

Drawing the plumage (train of feathers) was the most hardest part.

Ok, here are some facts about this bird:

  1. Peacocks have an average lifespan of twenty years in the wild.
  2. Peacocks prefer peace and harmony and will try to avoid commotion.
  3. According to history peacocks were brought to Egypt more than three thousand years ago by the Phoenicians.
  4. Contrary to popular belief, peacocks do fly but only for short distances.
  5. Males may have a harem of females which will each lay three to five eggs.
