Backwards – Illustration Friday
December 16, 2007 IF, Woman Series, acrylic

Backward Glance | Acrylic on Canvas
Illustration Friday’s theme this week is ‘Backwards’ and I really don’t know what to paint or illustrate. Since I haven’t painted dreamy woman for such a long time, I thought I paint this just to add to my collection. I admire Klimt very much, so I added that golden touch.

This is stunning!
I think the entire collection is beautiful. I love Klimt, too, and the gold brushwork is one of the first things I noticed about this painting.
Love it!
Thanks Kate!

Ooh! I love that first one. The whole set is gorgeous but the colours and tones in the first one are just wonderful.
Thanks Rhomany! I think I’ll be doing a series in acrylic! Thanks for viewing!

i like the use of gold in the backwards glance. it animates the plant…brings movement. excellent touch.

Hi Jean! Gustav Klimt (1862 – 1918) was an Austrian Symbolist painter.
Yup, that’s the one.
Very nice Emila!!! BTW, I voted for you on Bloggers Choice!!! I hope you win
Amazing work as always!!!
The Dreaming women characters are nice. The “literal” gold leaf is a nice touch to. I also really enjoy the red head with the maze in her hair, it really gives me that dreamy feeling.
It’s so much pretty!!!

I don’t know ifI’ll make the IF blog this week- I have a son who goes in to the hospital for surgery on Friday and it is dominating our priorities right now. The surgery will be a good thing, but he’ll be in the hospital for several days and that will be strange.
I love love love what you’ve created. =)

Very elegant and wonderful sketches in the above post.
Emila, she’s beautiful. They all are.
it’s as if your little girls are growing up in dreamy woman…the way you give her such a “i’m thinking of somewhere else” expression, in those eyes, is really quite amazing.
) i’m certain klimt looks down and is very happy that you do him such homage.
